Evening experiences

What is up there? Astronomy at the villa

Let us bring the Universe to you. The level of scientific content is adapted to the group so children and adults can enjoy a memorable night.

Why is the golden hour golden? Why is the sky blue… and then black? How come we cannot see the Moon every night?

Twilight and moonrise aperitif

Early evening · 2 hours · Sunset and moonrise

The evening starts with a safe solar observation until sunset as aperitifs are served on the terrace. We will dive together into the heart of the sun to understand how a quantum love story between two protons makes our star shine. And after sunset we will share with you the secrets of Earth’s companion: the Moon.

Science and storytelling woven into your evening, a memorable way to experience the Provençal sky.

Night sky observation with a telescope in Provence

How vast is the universe? How can I find the north star? What is a galaxy?

Night sky observation

After dark · 2–3 hours · Constellations · Telescope

After a sky reading and a science experiment, we set off to discover deep-sky objects. With our smart telescope, we can observe a host of celestial objects... in colour!

Beyond the observations themselves, you will leave with new knowledge! We will explain the formation and evolution of the stars and objects observed, and for the most curious, we can even dive into the heart of stars. We will guide you across the celestial vault; you will guide the session with your questions.

We promise you that after such an evening, you will go to bed with stars in your eyes!

For young explorers and their family

Wilderness at your fingertips

Have you ever observed an insect up close? Paid attention to a bird song? Smelled wild aromatic plants?

Wasps are mean, aren't they? What's that colourful bird? Look! Now that's a weird ant…

"Bugology and birdology"

Naturalist exploration for the whole family.

Half day · Identify animals · Capture and release

Are you team colourful bee-eater or team dung beetle? Team frog or team snail? And be careful… some wasps or spiders may be disguised as ants! But they're nice if you respect them!

The Luberon is a remarkable territory for its biodiversity. Open wide your eyes, ears and nostrils and follow us! We may encounter one of the star species of the Luberon!

We will take the time to explore, observe and study what nature offers to our senses in magnificent natural spaces.

Wild Mediterranean plants and orchids in Provence

Can I eat that? It looks yummy! Why do plants smell good sometimes? What do you mean it wants to burn?

Mediterranean plants: aromas and superpowers

Half day · Identify plants · Explore plants' superpowers

Plants in Provence are wild!
Some wait for the whole forest to burn. Some imitate insects to get pollinated. Some produce very smelly fragrances to not get eaten or essential oil to resist heat… and somehow a long time ago a hairless-ish great ape decided to use that.

The plant world in Provence is a lot crazier than you might think! Fancy exploring it?

Rainy days can be fun

We'll have fun… weather you like it or not

Rain? Heat? Wind? There's always a plan B and these plans make a pretty good plan A too.

What about a rain check?

Let's play chess!

Half day · Learn · Improve · Try and beat a champion

Chess is a worldwide phenomenon. Everybody plays!

No knowledge of the game? No problem. We can teach you the basics in a fun and engaging way! Want to improve to beat your friends or relatives who know the basics? We'll show you how it can be done!

And besides performance-oriented advice, we can show you lots of exercises, fun challenges, versions of the game that you can use to diversify your chess sessions at home.

The chess content of the workshops is defined by Alexandre, multiple-time French team champion (U18 N1) and Paris region's champion 2017, rated over 2000 OTB and 2500 online (stronger than 99.9% of 200 million people online).

Geology museum in Apt – fossils of the Luberon UNESCO Geopark

Underground superstars: fossils and rocks!

Fossils and geology museum

Half day · Exclusive experience with fossils at the museum

Discover the geological history of Provence and the Luberon UNESCO Global Geopark at the geology museum in Apt. The Luberon and Monts de Vaucluse hold extraordinary geological riches. This is what earned the territory its designation as a National Geological Nature Reserve and a UNESCO Global Geopark.

La Terre en tête is an official Geopartner of the Geopark and is proud to share its treasures with you while highlighting their fragility.

In addition to the visit, you will be able to handle and observe real fossils. La Terre en tête guides, as Geopartners, will borrow fossils from the museum reserve!
